Biography
Katie (Little Sparrow) is as captivating to watch as she is to listen to, her delicately crafted folk songs are created with a combination of flawless vocals, strings, guitars, percussion and tender harmonies.
Drawing upon influences as diverse as Kate Bush,
All About Eve and PJ Harvey she creates songs that are filled with a blend of styles, woven into the colourful tapestry of her music, often with a mysterious fairy tale quality.
2014 she released her beautiful debut album 'Wishing Tree'.
The album gained many great reviews and much radio
play, including Janice Long (BBC Radio 2),
Michelle Hussey (BBC Introducing Manchester),
Dave Monks (BBC Introducing Merseyside)
Guy Garvey, Tom Robinson & Chris Hawkins (BBC 6 Music),
Simon Raymond, Ruth Barnes, Shell Zenner & Kathryn Tickell (Amazing Radio) and many others, regional and international.
Since then Katie had a small break from Music in 2016 to give birth to her son.
She released an EP in 2018 called 'Just 3' which was a collaboration with pianist/composer Robin Dewhurst and cellist Sarah Dale. 3 songs, 3 musicians. Katie met Robin at Kendal Calling whilst performing on the same stage at the Tim Peaks Diner. They performed a cover of Baggy Trousers by Madness together which went down a storm. The track was recorded and received airplay on 6music and many other stations.
Although often performing as a solo artist Katie
is regularly accompanied by one or more of the following musicians who are a vital part of her Little Sparrow family.
